  write a one-block program to your disk drive (device 8).  Load that program
  (,8,1) to disable auto-answer mode.  Do NOT run that program; just loading
  it will do the job.  And any BASIC program in memory is preserved.

  This is a series of modifications for VIDTEX 4.0A or 4.0B, which will speed
  up dialing by 4 times.  It works consistently in my exchange.  Try it with a
  long number with a lot of 9's to check that it works in your exchange.  (My
  exchange is urban/inner suburban.)
